Brandon Okuma, a member of the Lowry baseball team, has been picked by coach Ron Espinola, to be the Athlete of the Week.
Espinola thinks that Okuma should be the Athlete Of the Week because, “in the playoffs, he continued his solid play. He picked up several hits over the weekend. He also made one of the best catches I’ve ever seen,” Espinola said the thing that Okuma excels at the most is “Effort. He puts the same 100% in every day.”
Okuma plays infield and outfield.
“He is a utility player. He plays everywhere,” according to Espinola.
Okuma said that he is playing baseball “all the time.” He said that when he started playing baseball, his parents wanted to get him involved in sports.
“A lot of my friends were playing baseball, and I just tried out,” he said. Okuma said that his favorite part about baseball is “going on trips with my friends. And winning games.”
