Back to school during uncertain times

After a six-month summer break students are finally welcomed back on campus. Some are adjusting more easily than others.

“Coming back to this school year was stressful because no one had any idea of how this would get done or what to do,” said Alexis Olson. Olson.

Although the new structure of school was not so easy for Olson to adjust to; she has found a way to make it work. On digital days Olson enjoys sleeping in and having time to catch up on all her work for the day.

“My favorite thing that has happened this far is school two days a week because It gives me breaks to sleep in,” said Olson. “On digital days I sleep all day and then try to get all the work assigned for that day done.”

Transitioning from “normal” to an alternating school day schedule has been hard for many. As most may know sports are postponed until winter and spring. Olson is looking forward to volleyball, softball, and basketball returning.

“This year I am looking forward to hopefully being able to come back full time and have sports start up, “ said Olson.

Whilst some are looking forward to sports, Abril Huerta is looking forward to simply just being back to normal and being able to see all her friends.

“For all of us to be back to normal,” said Huerta. “Yeah it has changed me personally because all of my friends are on different days.”

While others are dwelling on the new school format and being separated from their friends, Mrs. Miranda Santos is finding a way to be positive about the situation.

“I like the smaller class sizes; I think you can get a lot done,” said Santos. I think it’s also kind of training students that homework is sometimes a necessity.”
