On Friday, February 5, Lowry High played the Sparks Railroaders first for the Winterfest weekend, the night was also Senior Night at Lowry. The last time they competed, the Railroaders came out on top by just five points; this game was not as close.

The Bucks started five seniors, Terrell Messerly, Zeb Teichert, Joel Mendoza, Brandon Eldodt and Danny Westfall. Lowry lost the tip, the Railroaders then made a 3-point shot. The quarter ended with the Bucks trailing by 14 points.

“We were sleeping the first quarter, we didn’t come out ready to play,” said Grant Miller.

The second was not much of a change. The score going into the half was 28-17, Sparks.

“We started off really slow,” said senior Brandon Eldolt.

In the third quarter, the Bucks came out with a bang. Their defense and offense had a major improvement in the quarter. They kept the Railroaders to just 11 points; the last points went to Lowry’s Danny Westfall.

The fourth quarter was just like the third. The Bucks fought with all they had until the end. The teams both gave everything they had, but by the end, the Railroaders still came out on top, 60-46.

The players agree they will be definitely working on their defense and offensive skills this coming up week.
“We got them next time,” said Eldolt.
