Christmas Spirit at LHS

Christmas Spirit at LHS

It is time for Christmas spirit! Everyone in Lowry High School is quite busy this December, with clubs participating in a variety of community services, from Santa’s Village to the Toy Drive. There seems to be no stop in helping the community this Christmas.

The annual Food Drive, which started November 29 thru December 13, was a big success. Fourth period classes had a chance to compete with each other at Lowry for the prize of a Root Beer Float party. The proceeds will go to the Winnemucca Food Bank. First place for the Food Drive goes to Mr. Walton’s class, with 473 items, runner up goes to Mrs. Mercado’s class with 276 items, and third place with 129 items is Mrs. Meissner’s class.

Leadership would like to thank the Art club for being creative and making the food items into a castle. This sculpture was on display in the auditorium. In addition, we would like to thank Honor Society for helping in shipping out the food. It was wonderful to have the clubs take part in the same community service.

Natural Helpers held the annual Toy and Gift Drive from December 3 to 14. Unwrapped toys and gifts were to be dropped in boxes at the attendance office. This was a class competition for points. The winner this year was the juniors.

We would like to thank everyone for helping out in the community this year. It was a great success and hope our activities are even more successful next year!
