Winter has begun accompanying many of the most demanding sports at Lowry. This new season brings new players and new bonds to be formed on the girls’ JV basketball team. The JV team is coached by Chelsea Mendiola

“I know our team will keep up their energy and win a lot of games, probably most of them due to our defense,” said Estefany Espinoza.

The games have yet to begin, however, the girls are attending long practices to teach them to work together and improve their skills. The roster includes 12 girls: Sophomores Sarah Smith, Danielle Ricker, Brianna Behrens, Shaylee Robertson, Estefany Espinoza, Jasmine Anicker, and Katherine Tyree. The remaining are freshmen Jillian Albright, Hayley Hall, Sierra Thiede, Chelsea Herrera, and Madison Mayo.

All the girls have positive things to say about their team, especially their defense.

“We need to work better as a team, especially on our offense, however, I expect the outcome to be fair. We will lose a couple and learn, but win a lot and be very successful,” said Shaylee Robertson.

The team won their first three games in Lovelock this weekend and there’s plenty more to come.
