Hispanic Organization continues fundraising efforts

The Hispanic Organization at Lowry has been around for many years and was started by the Hispanic population at the school.

The advisors of the club are Mr. Jonathon Gibson and Mrs. Laura Mercado. The organization holds many fundraisers throughout the year such as a lunch for the staff, a dance, an open house for the upcoming eighth-graders, a food drive in the spring, and any other activities that the club can help out with throughout the year. All the proceeds go towards scholarships given to a few graduating seniors in the organization at the end of the year.

“We function together for service and we also have some fun,” said co-advisor Gibson.

The organization also takes trips to UNR to explore the campus and see what the school has to offer to the students.

Hispanic Organization is a place to have fun and learn about the culture and is open to all students regardless of ethnicity. Those interested in joining the club should speak with one of the student officers (Marilynn Sandoval, Gaudy Casteneda, or Berenice Sanchez) or one of the advisors and go join the fun.
