On Friday night, September 16, the Lowry Bucks JV football team continued on their strong start to the season by holding the Dayton Dust Devils scoreless in a 45-0 victory. On the season, the Bucks have shut out all of their competition; including Battle Mountain, Wooster, South Tahoe, and most recently Dayton.

The game remained close for most of the first quarter until the Bucks finally broke through on a touchdown by freshman Donovan Brumm to open the games’ scoring. At the end of the first quarter, the Bucks led 6-0.

To start the second quarter, Elijah Frei scored on a five-yard touchdown run and then Lowry converted on the extra two points on a pass from Garett Naveran to Josh Shaver to increase the lead to 14-0. Midway through the second quarter Aaron Nelson scored on a six-yard pass from Naveran to lead the Bucks to a 20-0 halftime lead.

After coming out of the locker room, the Bucks scored four touchdowns in the third quarter on two touchdown passes to Robert Stepper, a 45-yard run by Beau Billingsley, and an interception returned for a score by Frei to give Lowry the advantage at 45-0. There was no scoring in the fourth quarter, which allowed the Bucks to keep their season shutout intact.

“We just go out there and work hard,” said Brumm. “We don’t really think about the fact that we haven’t given up any points this year.”
