On February 11, Lowry’s Lady Bucks faced off with White Pine’s Lady Cats. This game happened during the Friday of Winterfest week. The Lady Buck’s made Lowry proud by winning 35-19.

The Lady Bucks ran up and down the court blocking shots at one moment and making them at the next. At the end of the game, the triumphant JV girls shook hands with White Pine’s JV girls.

Katie Schwartz and Chelsea Mendiola are the two coaches for the JV girls basketball team. When asked about her feelings on the game, coach Schwartz said the JV girls “came out and played smart”. They had a “big lead.” In the second half of the game, they were “more focused.” Schwartz also said that the team had good ball movement and that Sydney Blankenship had a “good game.”

When asked about where the team could have improved in the game, coach Schwartz said they could “improve on their defensive intensity off-ball movement in the offense.”

Jasmin Landa, a freshmen member of the JV team, said that she and her teammates “did really good, had up and down moments,” and that they “finished strong.” When asked where she would have improved in her game, Landa said she would have improved by “squaring up and shooting.”

The JV girls played their last game February 12 against West Wendover’s JV girls and were victorious.
