JV soccer loses on own goal

The Junior Varsity girls’ soccer team was in action Saturday morning against the Fallon Greenwave in what was the first game of a doubleheader.

The defensive struggle was unfortunately decided in favor of the Greenwave when Lowry accidentally scored on its own net.

A momentary lapse by the Buckaroo defense resulted in a pass to the goalkeeper going into the goal and it was the only score of the game.

“It’s always unfortunate losing a game 1-0 by scoring a goal in your own net,” said Coach Sarah Bull.

Lowry had opportunities to score but couldn’t find the Fallon net.

“We need to work on following our shots,” said Bull.

Despite the outcome, the players stayed positive.

“We worked as a team, and we didn’t give up,” said Saraya Cardenas.

Later in the day, the Lady Bucks were able to recover and get a win against Fernley. Although the score was the same, 1-0, Lowry was on the positive side this time.

Coach Bull said the team worked hard the entire second game.
