Coach Christopher Entwistle has chosen Katlyn Gomez as the girl’s varsity Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance last weekend against South Tahoe. The team faced challenges and Gomez stepped up as a leader in the defensive line.
“We picked her for her strong and consistent defense throughout the tournament, and her stifling defense against South Tahoe,” said Entwistle. “Katlyn really stepped up, and had an amazing week.”
Gomez’s determination and leadership carried the varsity team to keep playing against a difficult opponent. Gomez encouraged the rest of her teammates to play harder.
“I feel like they are definitely a very hard team to compete with especially the first game of the season and it was a rough loss but the way we adjusted the last couple of minutes of the game really improved our defensive attack,” said Gomez. “When we go to regionals and we play them, we will be better prepared.”
