Lowry boys basketball won its opening-round playoff game at home in front of a packed house filled with family, friends, and a deafening student section pulling away in the fourth quarter. Lowry fans were showing up to the gym an hour before the game to get their seats to watch Lowry’s first playoff game against the Fallon Greenwave.

At first, Lowry wasn’t playing to their full abilities such as moving the ball around and finding an open look under the basket. They got caught up in playing an up-tempo first quarter with turnovers. At the end of the first quarter, the Bucks were down 14 to 15, but when the Lowry players took the court at the start of the second quarter they came out with a positive attitude and put the first quarter behind them.

“Playing in the game was really exciting because it was my first time playing in a packed house in front of everyone,” said sophomore Jesse Studebaker.

Lowry scored 21 points in the second quarter and held Fallon to 16 points in the second quarter; at the end of the first half Lowry was winning 35 to 31. Sean Millikan had an outstanding game coming off the bench for the bucks. Millikan was the leading scorer with a contributing 21 points off the bench. Lowry had a close third quarter leading the Greenwave 48-42 at the end of the quarter. The Bucks didn’t look back in the fourth quarter as they pounded the ball inside and played hard-nosed defensive basketball.

Lowry won its opening playoff game 73-55. The game ended with a memorable scene as the players of Lowry and the terrific student section stormed the court.

The Lowry Bucks were back in action on February 25, in Las Vegas playing the Sparks Railroaders in the state tournament. They defeated the Sparks Railroaders and advanced to playing Moapa Valley.
