It is that time of year when the clock skips an hour; the weather is supposed to get warmer. The school year is almost to an end; with summer right around the corner and the Spring Sports kick-off.

Track and Field practice started on March 1, 2010, the participating students were to arrive at Lowry at 3:15 p.m. for their very first practice of the season. The first week of practice many people quit, cutting the roster each day to a shorter list.

Track and Field is a very competitive sport, but instead of playing with teammates like football or basketball, you compete by yourself against others as an individual. Track is about beating the person next to, in front of, or behind you.

The first meet was on March 13, 2010, and it took place in Fernley.

Mateo Echeverria competed at this particular meet at a varsity level. When asked how he thinks he did, he replied, “I did okay, I could have done better, I pulled a muscle and more practice will help improve my endurance for future meets.”

Coach Cabatbat said, “It is early in the season, we have had only three meets, the kids are coming along, the throwers are getting into shape, they are looking good.
