“Ender’s Game” is a very engaging movie. It stars Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield as the main protagonists. It is a science-fiction film based on the popular book of the same name written by Orson Scott Card in 1985. The film adaptation follows the story of a young boy named Ender and his journey to save the world.
The movie begins with Ender in school and having to prove his worth. He then progresses to battle school where they are taught about the alien race that attacked Earth in 2086. There, they learn to fight and to work as teams. Ender overcomes many personal struggles in battle school allowing him to become a better leader.
As the movie progresses, Ender is promoted to battle school along with many of his closest friends as they work together to find a common solution to the impending alien invasion. There is a major twist at the end that has the possibility to leave the viewer confused although it is quickly cleared up and the movie ends in sentimental fashion. It leaves the audience with a sense of hope for the characters and for the possibility of a sequel.
Overall, a good movie that incorporates science-fiction and action to provide a movie about the making of a leader and the qualities and traits it requires to become the best. Although critical acclaim was not the greatest because of the author’s personal beliefs, it is a great movie that I would not mind seeing again.
