The Lowry High School Drama and Stagecraft is performing a production of “Robin Hood” on March 7-9 at 7 p.m. They will also perform daily shows for all of the elementary schools in Winnemucca.

This play is a legendary heroic outlaw originally depicted in English folklore and subsequently featured in literature and film. According to legend, Robin Hood was a highly skilled archer and swordsman.
Aiden Tovar is playing the lead role of Robin Hood. He enjoys the spark of childhood the play holds.

“I grew up watching it as a kid and it was one of my favorite movies so it’s really cool to be able to play in it,” said Tovar.

The acting comes easy to the kids, primarily because they have all watched it. In fact, Mrs. Kelly Bales enjoys how well they act.

“I really enjoy watching the kids interpret the character and their sense of humor,” said Bales.

“Robin Hood” includes a variety of little jokes mixed into the literature.

“It’s really great to see their sense of humor come through their lines and how they present,” said Bales.

Behind the scenes, stagecraft is also hard at work. Ariana Perez enjoys the art aspect of building sets.

“It’s cool to see the way the play comes to life with all the backgrounds we build,” said Perez.
