The new ‘3A’

The new teams in 4A division 1A that have dropped down from 4A include Clark who is a good challenge to have in Lowry’s division after they came in second at state this year.

Desert Pines is another team who is a challenge for Lowry boys basketball after beating Lowry in the State Semi-Finals and winning the State Championship.

Other teams like Cheyenne, Mojave, Sunrise Mountain, Faith Lutheran, Southeast Career Tech and Western are all good teams to have in 4A division 1A and all have a chance to win a State Championship but Lowry will be coming back next year looking to bring back a state title to Winnemucca. It’s better to have new teams in our league rather than just play a Battle Mountain team twice a year who are really no competition to Lowry Boys Basketball and are pointless games to even be played.

“It is no different than when we play against White Pine, Lovelock or West Wendover. The ratio of size difference is about the same. So it would be like those guys having to compete with us for a state championship. In most sports it’s fine but in boys basketball and track it’s going to be very hard for smaller schools in the north to compete,” Chad Peters said.

Desert Pines Julian Jacobs received a scholarship this year to play for USC next season.

Now that Lowry has all these new teams from the south to go up against it gives Lowry a bigger challenge to get a state title, along with all the other Lowry sports like football, golf, baseball, soccer, track and all of Lowry’s other sports as well.
