Top players drafted in the 2011 NFL Draft

This year’s NFL Draft consisted of mostly defensive players rather than in past drafts which consisted of mostly offensive players.

In this year’s NFL draft the number one overall pick was Cam Newton out of Auburn University. Newton not only won the national championship but also a Heisman Trophy in one season.

The second quarterback taken in the Draft was Jake Locker drafted eighth overall by the Tennessee Titans, Locker played his college ball at the University of Washington.

The Denver Broncos had the second pick overall and selected Von Miller out of Texas A&M. Julio Jones out of Alabama was taken by the Atlanta Falcons as the sixth overall pick of the Draft. Another member of the Crimson Tide family Mark Ingram was also taken in the first round by the New Orleans Saints as the 28th pick overall. Nick Fairley played at Auburn as a defensive tackle. Fairley was drafted by the Detroit Lions.

Fairley will be playing on the same line as last year’s second overall pick Ndamukong Suh.

Patrick Peterson out of LSU was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals at the fifth overall pick.

Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the fourth pick in the second round taken by the San Francisco 49ers.
