Baseball has had an up and down year thus far but returned to playoff contention with two wins against Elko April 13-14.

The prior weekend, the Bucks struggled against Battle Mt. losing two games. Losses against Elko could have eliminated the team from the playoffs.

Now, Lowry has an even bigger game against the Spring Creek Spartans April 20-21.

“Spring Creek is always a good matchup. It should be fun with the playoffs on the line, “ said coach ron Espinola.

Against Elko in the first game, the Bucks came out swinging winning with a score of 13-1. In the second game, Elko had a comeback and beat the Bucks 14-10. With that loss everything rode on the third game and the Bucks were down until pinch-hitter Tanner Lecumberry doubled down the right-field line to score two runs and put Lowry ahead to stay.

Jace Billingsley closed out the game, getting out of a bases-loaded jam, while Tyler Brumm picked up the win. The final score of the third game was 13-9.

The Bucks play Spring Creek starting at 4 p.m. Friday. Spring Creek is in first place in the league with a 6-3 record.
