This week Ben Briseno has been chosen as the varsity cheer Student-Athlete of the Week by coach Cherese Fifield for always being willing to try new things and always helping others.

Briseno joined cheer his sophomore year of high school and since then has been moved up to team captain in his senior year.

“I joined cheer because it was something different for a boy to be doing,” said Briseno. “For me personally it has brought me out of my comfort zone in the best ways possible.”

Coach Fifield is very proud to be Briseno’s coach because of how willing he is always to be a part of the practice and not afraid to try new things which makes him get better and better.

“Ben is one of our varsity captains,” said coach Fifield. “He is always right where he needs to be, always willing to try anything, and is so determined to hit new stunts.”

Coach Fifield said that she considers Briseno to be the strong, silent leader.

Briseno doesn’t know exactly why he was called this but believed that it is because of his maturity.

“I’m considered the strong silent leader because of how I keep my personal opinions to myself unless needed to be said,” said Briseno, “I’m a good leader because of how maturely I can handle situations.“
