“There’s [approximately] 101 days of summer vacation and school comes along just to end it, so the annual problem of our generation is finding a good way to spend it,” stated perfectly in the Phineas and Ferb title sequence. What to do this summer may be the question on minds, and to answer that, here are some ideas.
Read some good books, the library has a summer reading program that could provide some inspiration, sitting outside getting a tan or on dark, rainy, days cuddling up to a good book. Also for cold summer days watching movies, old movies, and new movies, see the Summer Movies story in AE to see what’s coming to theaters this summer. Attend concerts, for big spenders there are concerts in Reno and even Las Vegas and a Chris Young concert at the Winnemucca Event Center on August 30, but for the typical broke high school kid there are concerts at The Martin, in parks, and all throughout Winnemucca at inexpensive prices or for free. Body of water, it is obvious that there is an absence of water in Winnemucca, although just a long seven-hour drive is the beautiful beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Winnemucca also has an outdoor pool, Sage Heights Pool, or an indoor pool for those missing a desire for sun, the Bode Howard Memorial Pool.
Summer is also a great time to eat a lot because you are not forced to go to school, you can hide in your house stuffing your face with food, so try new things that you wouldn’t normally eat. If you find some good food you can make it for the party you will have; food, friends, music, and nothing illegal, after all, we have a reputation for upholding Lowry. After partying all night you can go off on an adventure, Water Canyon, for example, is said to be a lovely place to hang out. You can take majestic pictures with friends and post them all over social media and as it gets dark and cold start a fire, roast some marshmallows, eat some chocolate, and take some more pictures.
For the smarty pants do your summer homework or burn it. And for the athletes, there are sports camps all over, Lowry usually holds a few camps and most universities have sports camps. Again with friends, you have an option of playing sports, there are lots of fields around Winnemucca that you can use. If you were to do all the things in this article, you could end up, happy, in good physical shape, and smart. And do you know who likes smart, happy, physically attractive people? Hot foreign swimsuit models, so to wrap up your summer by marrying one, or just date one, your choice. If all else fails this summer stay in your bed, eat food, and go on social media sites where others will be posting pictures of all their joyful adventures, best of luck to you this summer.
