What NOT to Watch: ‘Kirstie Alley’s Big Life’

Former “Cheers” co-star and advocate for Jenny Craig, Kirstie Alley is starring in her own reality show called “Kirstie Alley’s Big Life”.

I am an adamant fan of the light-hearted family comedy “Look Who’s Talking” in which Alley stars alongside John Travolta, so I was interested in her new reality show which airs on A&E. The show is targeting Alley’s struggle with her fluctuating weight problems and while the show is supposed to be about her struggle to lose weight, it consists of nothing but petty, pessimistic complaints.

I admire Alley for doing a reality show, and I have deep sympathy for her having to deal with an unfair, simple-minded media attacking her with vulgar puns, however, her show is simply obnoxious. Throughout an entire episode, she charges around her mansion bossing around her lazy assistants and droning about various simple tasks. While I don’t intend to carp on Alley’s new show, it is not inspiring and definitely not worth watching.
