Everyone has heard the expressions “practice makes perfect” or “hard work is the key to success”, but is that really the case? I think yes. I believe that natural talent can be a bit of an advantage over hard work; depending on the talent. I also consider talent useless, if the talented one doesn’t put in effort to become better. Hard work, in my perspective, is much more appreciated than talent.
Anyone can be gifted. But if the hard work is given by that ungraceful someone, they will most likely end up reaching or surpassing the former talented. The one that’s been shooting hoops every single day for five hours, can easily beat the “star of the team”. Especially if that team leader gets caught up in the talent. Being “the arrogant one” isn’t something anyone should want to be labeled as.
Others may believe that talent is superior to hard work and practice because they have experienced it themselves. But that’s not to say that just because one is talented; they treasure it. Since the talent is already in their hands, it will most likely be left to go to waste. If one is determined to get where they want to be, one needs to be open-minded and willing to make it there.
In the end, hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
