Class of 2017 and beyond, congratulations, you no longer have to take the High School Proficiency Examinations (HSPE). Well, congrats may not be in order because those students have to take End of Course Exams (EOC).

The Nevada State Department of Education recently released the new graduation requirements.

Students will take four End of Course Examinations that replace the HSPE.

As these examinations are being piloted; 9th and 10th graders have to take the tests but are not required to pass. The class of 2019 will have to pass the EOCs to graduate.

In summary: seniors must have 22.5 credits and pass all HSPE subjects; juniors must have 22.5 credits, pass all HSPE subjects, and take the ACT; freshmen and sophomores must have 22.5 credits, take four EOC exams, and take the ACT. The classes of 2019 and beyond must have 22.5 credits, pass four EOC exams, and take the ACT.
