Next year Lowry will be adding Dustin Christean to the administration as the new vice principal. Christean was born and raised in Winnemucca. He graduated from Lowry as the valedictorian of the class of 1997. He was a three-sport letterman in basketball, baseball, and weightlifting. His wife, Hailey Christean, teaches special needs students at Sonoma Heights. They have two daughters, Finn and Jett.

Christean will be taking on a large workload in the next school year as vice principal.

“My expectations for the 2015-16 school year include being busy handling many of Mr. Welter’s previous duties including discipline, teacher evaluations, staffing, and attendance. Additionally, I will be taking on truancy advisory board duties, and undertaking school improvement planning efforts with Mr. [Ray] Park and Mr. [Tim] Connors,” said Christean.

He took on this job for what seems to be the right reason: to help students.

“The job of assistant principal is intriguing to me because it allows me to serve in a support role to the principal and staff while fostering positive outcomes for student success. I look forward to working with many of my former students from the junior high school, as well as interacting with students that I did not have in class previously. I accepted the position so that I can continue to grow as a professional, and so that I can continue to give back to the community. Being part of a solid administrative team was certainly attractive, and I enjoy going the extra mile for students and community stakeholders,” said Christean.
