The amazing art of poetry

Of all the clubs at Lowry, there is one in particular that focuses on the art of poetry. The club is called “Psyche” because you have to tap into your inner self to be creative.

“It is a group of students who like to write and/or do various arts, including performing arts,” said Ms. Vickie Meissner.

They plan to take a group to the Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon, this coming summer. They are continuing to raise money for the trip. They just had a yard sale and will probably do another one in the spring. They will probably sell St. Patrick’s Day candy grams too.

Some of the members also participate in the Poetry Out Loud contest, which is a national competition.

“We had a poetry slam last year at Global Coffee and are hoping to do the same this year,” said Meissner.

Currently, they only have about 12 active members, but welcome more. The officers are Miranda Lausch, Aislinn Marsden, and Robert Rives. They meet every Wednesday in Ms. Meissner’s room, 207.  Anyone can show up.
