There are only three weeks until Homecoming 2018 begins, but behind the scenes, the Leadership class has been hard at work since August, planning for the big event. During their annual retreat, they brainstormed ideas for a theme, dress-up days and lunchtime activities.
It was narrowed down to the top three picks and then the Student Body voted on their favorite theme. The winning theme was “A Haunted Homecoming” and since the theme was chosen, Leadership has been putting the final touches on our Homecoming week activities.
The lunchtime committee has planned some fun activities including a pumpkin golf game, a fluffy marshmallow competition, as well as the traditional “Bet on the Bucks” for Friday’s activity. The Student Body officers and Advisor, Julia Topholm, met with our administration and received approval to have two pep assemblies, one to kick off the week, and the traditional pep rally on Friday to support athletics.
The royalty and half-time committee is preparing for nominations for King and Queen and those results will be announced soon. Students can look forward to another great half-time celebration including flag-bearing horses and the 2018 Grand Marshall.
Of course, everyone’s favorite activities will be back, including the parade, powder puff football, he-man volleyball and the annual Homecoming dance featuring DJ Oso. The Leadership class hopes everyone gets in the spirit and supports efforts for the best Homecoming week ever.
