December 19th the wrestling team set off to Reno for a tournament. Overall, they made Lowry proud. They did very well as a whole, and individually.  Coach Brant Corak and Coach John Brooks are proud of the boys for their performance.

“Our boys competed well.  There are things that we coaches identified as areas to improve upon,” said Coach Brant Corak.

The Tournament of Champions in Reno is a tournament for wrestlers all around the United States. There were wrestlers there from as far as New Jersey, Alaska, and Oklahoma. There were over 90 teams competing in the tournament.

“Oh, we did great as a team, we took first place and we cheered loudly to discourage the other teams and won by a decent amount of points, showing that Lowry is still the top dog,“ said senior Tristen Waller.

The two wrestlers that had placed in the tournament were Luis Cardenas who placed 6th and Beau Billingsley who placed 7th. These boys wrestled exceptionally well in this particular tournament.

“This season has gone very well so far.  We have some new faces that have really stepped up and contributed to our team’s success.  Our practice room can be given all the credit for our success on the mat.  We make it a point to do everything possible to outwork our opponents,” said Corak.
