Student-Athlete of the Issue: Brian Terry

Bryan Terry is one of Lowry’s Class of 2017’s top athletes and this issue’s Student-Athlete of the Issue. Terry plays football in the fall and throws shotput and discus in the Spring.

The football team didn’t have the most successful season this past fall, but Terry’s skills still shone on the field.

“Football was pretty good, I got an award this past year, Offensive line all league honorable mention,” said Terry.

Track and Field is the sport Terry really gets to shine on an individual level. He went to the State Championship last year and has his eye on the gold for the upcoming season.

“This year I want to win the state championship for shot, and I want to get at least top three for discus,” said Terry. “Last year, I choked at Zone for discussion, but I made it to state for shot. I got a fourth-place medal. This year, I want to beat both the school records.”

Terry is a natural athlete, and sports keep him active.

“Sports play a huge role in my life. I guess just making me healthier and getting me out and going instead of just being lazy and sitting down all the time,” said Terry.

When he isn’t improving athletically, Terry spends his time at school or with family and friends.

“I just work out and hang out with my family and friends,” said Terry.

Lowry has provided a great high school sports experience for him.

“My sports experience at Lowry has been pretty good,” said Terry. “The coaching staff is pretty good here; they give you a lot of support and want you to do the best that you can and want you to go to the next level.”

Going to the next level is exactly what Terry plans to do.

“I’m being recruited by two schools right now, both in Oregon, and my goal is to go there and at least go to the national championship,” said Terry.
