Winter sports have come to an end, and that means spring sports are right around the corner. The JV softball season has just begun, practice is underway, and the girls are preparing for what looks like a very promising season. The weather has not been too kind, forcing the team to practice inside.
Freshman Destiny Starkey can’t wait for their games to begin.
“I’m very excited to get to play with an amazing group of girls against some really competitive teams,” said Starkey.
The girls have been improving their skills since day one, going through many drills and learning to play together as a team.
“We do a lot of throwing drills, we do fielding drills with anything from grounders to pop-flies. We do hitting drills with locating the ball and hitting them in different positions,” said Starkey
It is the first time most of the girls have ever played together on the same team, so they are hoping to establish great teamwork as they continue to play together. With the weather improving, the girls will most likely be out on the field soon.
Their first home game will be on March 18 at home against the Spring Creek Spartans. The head coach of the JV team is Shannon McClellan.
