The freshman volleyball team had trouble getting anything going during Homecoming week. The young team lost to a good Fernley squad after two sets, but they proved to have some fight in them in the second set.

The team traveled to Fallon the next day and played another good team, losing after two sets once again.

Setter Amanda Franklin said the team is learning to play better as a team.

“We have learned to work as a team and communicate better,” said Franklin.

Franklin also talked about what her team needs to be better at moving forward in the season.

“We need to work on not getting down on ourselves and being more fired up for each game,” said Franklin.

Coach of the freshmen Jessica Eastman also discussed how she has seen her team improve.

“My team has improved a lot this year with communication and their service,” Eastman said. “At the beginning of the year, they were serving a lot of balls into the net, and I haven’t seen this happening as much.”

Eastman also spoke about how she wants to see her team improve as the season continues.

“They need to improve more on transitioning off of the net, and we will work on that more next week,” said Eastman.

The girls will be back in action next Friday and Saturday when they head to South Tahoe and Dayton.
