The Lowry boys’ varsity soccer team triumphed against Fallon 11-3 on October 8. The team traveled to Churchill County and earned its third win this season.
“Diego Gudino had four goals, and Roberto Rodriguez was the Man of the Match with 1 goal and 3 assists. Nico [Espinola] got his goal also,” said coach Steve Swanson.
Defender Colton De La Mora spoke about the team’s season.
“We’ve certainly had some rough times, but we picked up our performance,” said Colton De La Mora.
The team has taken up quite the challenges this season. Ariel Gonzalez explains why this season has been crazy so far.
“As a whole, we aren’t doing as great as we know we could be doing,” said Gonzalez. “I think soccer is a very beautiful and thought-provoking sport.”
Even though the season may not be going off to a great start, Gonzalez explains how hard the team is trying to make this season a great one.

“My team as a whole works its tail off,” said Gonzalez. “It’s just when it comes down to each person individually, some of us can put in more effort. We play as a team, there is a lot more passing this year since no one is really trying to be the star player.”
The boys lost Wednesday’s game against South Tahoe, 4-2.
“Another tough loss today to South Tahoe at home, 4-2,” said Swanson. “We were leading 2-1 at the half. We just cannot find a way to score. We will try something different tomorrow. We will not give up.”
The team has worked hard over the last couple of weeks of the season to finish strong.
“Developing, I guess, would be the best term,” said De La Mora. “In the beginning of the season, everyone sort of had their own play style, but as we progressed, everyone started to work together as a team.”
