On October 5, the Fernley Vaqueros came to town to face the varsity volleyball team. The ladies had a great 3-1 win over the Vaqueros. The next day, the Lady Bucks traveled to Fallon to face them on their home court and came out with a 3-1 win over Fallon.
Coach Brandon Eastman had a lot to say about the improvement of the team throughout the season so far.
“I have seen the team improve so much since the beginning of the season,” said Eastman. “We have been displaying so much energy and intensity for the past couple of weeks, and that’s really what has helped turn our season around. We were struggling with our consistency for quite a while, but in recent games, we have really developed a sense of urgency and have been executing much, much better. Our offense has been clicking, and we have really been getting after things defensively.”

Eastman also wanted to highlight the ladies’ recent game over the number two team in their division, Fallon.
“I would like to highlight our most recent win against Fallon,” said Eastman. “It was a great win for our team this year, and I think that match is really going to give us the confidence moving forward in the season.”
Eastman then explained the improvements the team needs to make to keep the upward trend.
“I still think we can improve on some little things such as: eliminating some of our serving errors and reading the play better and faster in order to put ourselves in a better position to be successful, but at this point in the season we really just need to keep our motivation and keep working toward the goals that we set at the beginning of the season,” said Eastman. “These last three weeks of the regular season are going to be huge for us to continue our upward trend as we get closer to the postseason.”
Tailor West gave some feedback to the team’s efforts this week.
“Our team played so well, we came out ready and gave 100% the whole time,” said West. “We did a really good job of putting effort into every ball and getting three good touches on every ball. Our season started a little rough, but I think we’ve got some good things going now and we’re ready to take home wins for the rest of the season.”
The Lady Buckaroos varsity volleyball team faces South Tahoe’s Vikings on October 14.
