Lowry’s varsity football team hosted the Sparks Railroaders on October 14.

The Bucks fought hard, keeping the Railroaders to an 11-point lead at the half. Lowry, still down by five, scored in the third quarter. In the fourth, Ren Mattson threw a dime to Austin Robison to push ahead 12-11, but the Railroaders came back with a touchdown to end the game 18-12.

Even though the Bucks fell to the Railroaders, linebacker Joseph Peterson talked about some positive plays of the game for the Bucks.

“Some highlights of the game were when Ren Mattson threw a deep pass to Austin Robison late in the game,” said Peterson. “Also, when coach Scott put me in on kickoff, and I leveled a Sparks kid out of bounds.”

Also, Peterson mentioned some improvements that need to be made before their next game against Churchill County Greenwave.

“We need to improve on how to execute plays more and be consistent with what we’re doing,” said Peterson.

Peterson also mentioned what they could have done to have a more successful season.

“I think we didn’t do as well as we should have,” said Peterson. “We all have the athletic ability to be better than most or even all of the teams, I just think our mental attitude on the field isn’t there.”

The Bucks are in Fallon on Friday, October 21, to face off against The Greenwave.
