These Lady Bucks have been on the court for a while, and seniors will be coming back for their last play. Players Brooklyn Waller, Hannah Hillyer, Brooklyn Backus, Amaya Herrera, Tiana Herrera, Kennadee Jeppsen, and Aimee Brandon will be returning.

“We have seven players returning, [we’re] expecting big things out of them this year, but I think they know what we expect and they’re being good leaders so far,” said coach Chelsea Cabatbat.

This season, these girls are planning to stay on top and do their best.

“Some goals are to just work hard every single game and get better,” said Alyssa Kuskie. “Hopefully, make it to Regionals and State.”

Brooklyn Waller also shared her thoughts on how she thinks this season will turn out.

“This season I think we’re going to do pretty well,” said Waller. “We have a lot of shooters this year and our upcoming players – the JV players that made varsity – they’re hard workers, and I think we’re all going to work really well together.”

Cabatbat made it clear that they will have to expect the unexpected this season.

“Well, of course, Fallon is going to be tough; Spring Creek, Elko, Fernley are up on the rise,” said Cabatbat. “Pretty much everybody in our Division is just going to have to prepare for. Fallon and Elko are some teams that we look forward to playing, and we know that it’s going to be a tough game.”

Waller, being a senior, also wanted to defeat some of the named teams.

“Some teams that I’d like to overcome this year are definitely Fallon and Elko,” said Waller. “I think Fallon might be one of our biggest competitors, and I look forward to playing them.”

In a nutshell, these girls will have to learn to work together in ways that will make it easier for them to communicate.

“Our goals are just to get better every day, to start playing as a team,” said Cabatbat. “Find different combinations that work and are deep. I think that’s a really big thing for us so that we can sub anybody at any time and not lose anything.”
