The varsity boys’ season was full of effort, hard work, and dedication. The Buckaroos finished 10-15 and 6-10 in league.
The season started off with a loss against Reno High. The boys took the game as a scrimmage and wanted to practice their plays as well as work as a team. The score of the game was 63-44. Throughout the game, there were many mistakes that took place, as well as miscommunications that needed to be worked on.
Head coach Chad Peters was impressed with the character of his team.
“I think we had a very hard-working team. They all understood what it meant to be a good teammate,” said Peters. “I was very proud of all the young men on our team and how they handled the adversities of the season.”
The Buckaroos worked head each game, but junior Brendan Domire was hoping for a different outcome this season.
“I think the season could have gone a lot better; we had many tough games that didn’t go our way at all,” said Domire.
The result has not reduced the returners’ excitement for next season.
“I will miss playing with the seniors next year,r but I think we will still have a good team and can possibly make it to state,” said Domire.
Senior Ren Mattson has been playing basketball most of his life and will miss playing with his friends. And he is sad to see his last basketball season come to an end.
“Altogether, I think the season went well, not as well as we wanted, but much better than last year,” said Mattson. “I enjoyed all the memories my teammates and I had made throughout the season, and I will never forget my four basketball seasons at Lowry.”
