Cross Country coach Kristin Flanders nominated both Will Kracaw and Becca Kuskie for Student-Athletes of the Week.
Seniors Will Kracaw and Becca Kuskie were both chosen as AOW for Cross Country due to their smart race tactics in Elko. Kracaw won against a close competitor.
“Although he didn’t achieve a personal record at Elko last week, he ran a very smart race and beat a competitor who has been challenging him every week,” said Flanders.
Kuskie imitated Kracaw’s performance in Elko.
“Although she didn’t achieve a personal record either, she, too, ran a smart race and closed the gap between her and her nearest competitor,“ said Flanders.
Kuskie agreed that she ran a smart race and is actively working on improving her skills.
“My race in Elko went well, I picked a couple of things to work on, and I executed them and closed the gap between the Spring Creek girls,” said Kuskie. “I am improving every day by working on the little things like relaxing while I’m racing or finding a target and closing the gap.”
The last meet before regionals was held in Spring Creek on October 17.
Regionals will be held on Thursday, October 25, in Reno, NV.
