Student-Athlete of the Week: Kenzi Dowd

Girls soccer coach Misty Stene chose Kenzi Dowd as Student-Athlete of the Week for the contributions she makes to the team.

“She has just been an awesome all-around player, especially on defense,” said Stene. “She has saved us so many times. I can play her anywhere on the field, and she does a hundred percent every time.”

Dowd expresses her favorite positions on the field; she is experienced with every position she plays.

“My family is very athletic,” said Dowd. “I play all the positions except goalie, but she usually has me back on defense. I really like midfield and forward.”

Dowd described her practices as being challenging, especially the conditioning that is involved.

“We practice all week, and our conditioning can be very brutal,” said Dowd. “In some of our conditioning, we do 1/60s, and we can have multiple at a time, and the minimum would be five, where we run full field sprints. We do runs, 300-yard dash, and liners.”
