Winnemucca FFA Chapter takes state by storm

The Winnemucca FFA Chapter travelled to Reno to compete in Nevada’s FFA state convention, March 17-20. At the convention, members compete in their events for a first-place title and a chance to go to nationals in the Fall, but those aren’t the only awards that are given. There are many chapter awards, individual proficiency awards, and state degrees that FFA members work hard for all year.

This year, Michael Venzor brought home the Chapter Treasurer’s Book Award, Kylie Lewis won the Chapter Secretary’s Book Award, and Mackenzie Gordon received the gold for her Diversified Ag. Proficiency, Blake Duncan received gold for his Sheep Production Proficiency, and Sarah Smith received gold for her Beef Production Proficiency.

Sarah Smith, Kylie Lewis, Shauna Smith, Hayley Hall, Mackenzie Gordon, and Brittany Partee all received their State Degrees.

The Winnemucca FFA Chapter also placed first for a spot at nationals in Horse Judging.

The Winnemucca FFA Chapter will proudly be represented by Blake Duncan as he takes on the Nevada state presidency 2015-2016. His duties will require him to travel to AG programs at high schools all throughout Nevada and promote FFA. He will also lead his officer team in organizing all of the leadership events and conventions that take place in the Nevada FFA 2015-2016 year. Duncan was also the recipient of the $1000 Ag. Credit Scholarship.
