Lowry’s Academic Team keeps aiming for success. Throughout the season they have defeated Battle Mountain, West Wendover, and West Wendover JV.
The Academic Team competes against other schools; the team will be asked certain questions like trivia. During the competition, there is a team of six on both sides. They usually answer questions about geography, math, culture, English, etc. Whoever answers the most questions correctly wins.
“We are standing second with Spring Creek, the team practices on Monday nights to succeed,” said Lisa Scott.
Scott would like to have younger students create a bigger team and thinks it’s a great way to get students involved in being on a Lowry team. Lowry has done really well throughout the season. They have only lost against Spring Creek and White Pine.
“The team has done well and has been fun to work with,” said Scott.
The team always tries their best and works hard, and their chemistry is on point. The Academic team struggles to succeed every time they compete. The team will be attending Regionals in Spring Creek and the top two teams will be going to State in Winnemucca.
“We are expecting to be able to make it to state and we will see where we go from there if we go to State,” said Hayden Jeppsen.
Regionals is February 24 at Spring Creek and State is March 3 at Lowry.
