This year there have been many people who have inspired others, but two students stood out the most, Chelsea Baker and Cassandra Hyde.
According the Mrs. Corrine James, who introduced Baker, Baker was the first one in line with her mother for dance camp, since she was a child she has been dancing. As the years passed this child grew up. As Baker grew up, tragedy struck her life, instead of having tragedy destroy her she always strived for the best and kept a smile on her face. She participated in varsity cheer and studio dance. She also became involved in Drama and Stagecraft.
Baker has been part of drama for three years, drama is a way of showing others that she can act and be a part of a great drama department. It is hard to act in front of others and remember all of the lines.
“She let her creativity soothe her soul,” said Drama teacher James.

During her senior year, more tragedy struck her life as she lost her childhood home. She realized that possessions don’t make memories. Later, Baker starred in her dream role as Cinderella. Baker has been chosen by James and other faculty members because this young lady truly makes the world a better place.
“Not a lot of people know what all I have been through, It feels good to finally have some recognition. Mrs. James has always been a close family friend and hearing her speech about me was really emotional. I always tell myself, you have the power to say, this is not how the story will end. This is what gets me through each day,” said Baker.
Baker has been working hard to be a college cheerleader, her mom always pushed her to be in cheer. Although it has been hard for her to do all of this on her own, cheer coach Diane Rice has helped her with cheerleading since her freshman year.
Cassandra Hyde was also chosen as an inspirational student but was not present at the ceremony.
