Boy’s basketball falls at state

On  February 18 the Varsity boys went down to Las Vegas to battle it out for the state championship. The Bucks battled hard but were not able to beat the very athletic Clark County High School.

Clark was only winning by four at halftime, after half it started to get worse. The score at the end of the third quarter was 41-25 Clark. The Bucks then struggled to keep up with the scoring pace of Clark, and they ended up losing 57-31 at the end of the fourth quarter.

Coach Chad Peters was pleased with their performance in Vegas.

“It was a very nice effort for Lowry against an extremely talented team,” said Peters.

To make it to this extremely hard tournament, the boys played in the Northern Nevada zone tournament the week before. The boys had made it all the way to the finals against Elko but were unable to take the zone title. That match against Elko took off with Elko in the lead and stayed that way all through the game. They were all happy about making it to state but were unhappy to not take the zone title.

As this season comes to a close, the varsity players look back on a pretty decent year and hope to improve for next year.
