Boys’ golf is expecting a promising run toward state this year as they have new talent coming to the team and returning faces that will give them a chance.
Returning sophomore, Dillon Patterson, thinks this season will be a season of growth for the whole team as well as himself.
“I am seeing this season as a possibility for my abilities to grow stronger and the team to grow stronger together,” said Patterson.
Patterson thinks their top six players have the opportunity to make it to the top three teams for state.
“Our top four players will be returning players, and we are hoping for freshman Kobe Stoker to step up into the fifth man position, but the sixth man is still open,” said Patterson. “But with the loss of a few top players to Elko’s varsity team, it gives us a possible position in the top three teams for state.”
Patterson also thinks this year’s team will do well as long as they put in effort and play to the best of their abilities.
“This year we have a lot of potential for a shot at state if we all put in effort at practice and play to our greatest abilities, we should have a good shot at state,” said Patterson.
The Boys Golf team’s first tournament will be held in Dayton, March 8.
