CHAMPIONS: Girls win first ever track title

The weekend of May 18-19, a group of track athletes headed to state at Carson High School. For the first time ever, the Lady Bucks took first place overall in the track meet.

Each athlete participated in different events and performed very well. On Friday, the girls’ 4×200 relay team ran with a time of 1:49 and placed fourth.

Rachel Garrison placed 2nd in throwing and was very pleased.

“I was excited to get second place and to be able to compete along a successful track team,” said Garrison.

Shelby Garrison and Hailey Hinkle both competed in the 400-meter dash. Garrison placed first, and Hinkle placed second in the 3A division.

The boys’ 4×100 ran but got disqualified because they dropped the baton.

Saturday morning, the boys’ 4×800 team ran. Brandon Lee, Hunter Albisu, Sam Roth, and Will Kracaw finished 6th.

With all the big accomplishments that took place, the 4×400 relay team finished 1st in 3A with a time of 4:303.64. The members of the team were Adia Bengochea, Hailey Fernandez, Hailey Hinkle, and Shelby Garrison.
