Last Friday, Lowry varsity played Fernley in a game that was predicted to be a close one. Lowry dominated the game 41-14 with Calvin Connors making five of the six touchdowns himself with a total of 125 rushing yards.

Although, both teams have already made the first round of playoffs this was still an important game. Recently, the Fernley Vaqueros beat the Truckee Wolverines, ruining the winning streak they had been working on for years. Truckee had tied the Nevada record for the most games won in a row and was about to create a new record had the Vaqueros not won. Considering the Buckaroos had lost to Truckee earlier in the season, it was expected to be a tough game against Fernley.

Connors played with a determination which won Lowry the game with a lot of his team’s help. He had roughly a third of the total rushing yards for the team and almost all of the points. As a quarterback, Connors was also able to lead his team to victory with three passes for 72 yards.

“We knew winning this game meant a good chance at taking state and each player put their heart into it and finished the game defeating the vaqueros,” said Alec Mayo.

Lowry plays the number one ranked team, the Fallon Greenwave, Thursday, October 25. This game will determine whether or not the Bucks with play Fallon again at home or in Fallon’s domain.
