Five lucky and talented girls will be representing Nevada at the 87th National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, from October 29- November 1.
The competitors are all from Winnemucca and attend Lowry. Shauna Smith, Hayley Hall, Brittany Partee, Mackenzie Gordon, and Diamond Castillo will be headed to Louisville this month.
“I think we all are very excited to go meet new people and compete in an event we have a lot of passion for,” said Smith.
“We practiced all summer, at least once a week. I think we’re more than prepared for Nationals,” said Hall.

They all participated at the 2014 State Livestock Judging Convention in Las Vegas. They won with an astonishing amount of points and were 200 points ahead of the team that placed second. That team was a senior team, which made the competition twice as hard, since they are a junior team. They are the second livestock judging team from Winnemucca to compete at the National level.
“We’re the youngest all-girl team for Nevada ever sent, and I’m glad to say Winnemucca has some of the best livestock judgers in the state,” said Brittany Partee.
The team will compete against 51 others, and Winnemucca FFA wishes them the best of luck at Nationals.
