The FFA stands for “Future Farmers of America” and every year they go to State and compete against other teams regarding their knowledge.
The competitors seemed to do well in their Career Development Events.
“I think we did really well. We had competitions, we’d get into teams and go do whatever our CDE was. A CDE is a Career Development Event and depending on what group we’re in, that’s where we would go,” said Rylee Schomer.
In a competition like this, testing your knowledge can be one of the determining factors of who wins.
“We got to UNR the first day and we had to do our testing for our CDE’s; our written tests. The next day we went back and did our one-on-one testing for our CDE’s and then that night, we went to the Fly High trampoline place, which was really fun. There were a bunch of other chapters there for FFA too and the next day we went back to UNR and usually every day we would go to our designated sections and answer questions about what we’re ‘specialized’ in. Each night we would have sessions and go to Lawlor Event Center. There were State Officers for FFA who were retiring, so they gave their retiring address there at State. Then, we left on Saturday,” said Hattie Michael.
Based on the known results FFA ended up placing.
“Well, I know that AG Sales A team took third place. Horse judging A team had a tie for first place, so they took second place for the tiebreaker,” said Weston Noyes.
The competition took place in Reno, NV at UNR. The students stayed on campus and all activities and sessions were held on campus as well.
