Lowry girls JV basketball team played Fallon on December 6. It was the ladies’ first league game for this season, and they didn’t know what to expect.
The JV Girls beat Fallon 54-23 at Fallon. The team consists of one junior, one freshman, and the rest of the team is sophomores, but one player stood out in this game.
Freshman Sierra Maestrejuan dropped 20 points, almost outscoring the Greenwave’s 23 points. Maestrejuan thought the team did very well, as it was their first league game.
“I thought we played great,” said Maestrejuan. “We went into the gym knowing it would be a very difficult game, but we worked hard, and it paid off.”
Maestrejuan also explained the feeling of being a freshman on a JV team.
“Being a freshman on JV is definitely different than what I expected,” explained Maestrejuan. “The group of girls on my team is amazing and pushes me to become better, so I’m grateful for that.”
The JV girls play next at Spring Creek on December 12 in their third league game.
