Freshman boys fall to the Spring Creek Spartans on the road

The Boys Freshman basketball team traveled to Spring Creek on December 13 to play the Spring Creek Spartans.

It was the boy’s third league game of the season. They put up a fight for the Spartans, but lost in the last quarter as the Spartans went on a run to win the game.

Coach Brandon Eastman was very happy with the effort of the team, although the Spartans won 52-38.

“We came out with a lot of energy and intensity, and also we got after it on defense,” said Eastman. “Spring Creek took advantage of our press, which made us have to get out of it. But in the first half, the game went back and forth between the teams, who were both playing good defense. We were down by two going into the half, but we came out of the locker room, and all of the team’s intensity was gone. After the Spartans made a run in the third quarter, it was an uphill battle after that, but we never gave up. I was very proud of the boys for not giving up and fighting until the last buzzer.”

Eastman is also very proud of the boys for all the hard work they have put in so far this season to better themselves.

“The season is going really well,” said Eastman. “I think the scores aren’t always a reflection of how well we are actually playing. But every day they come in, and you can really tell they want to learn and they want to get better. We are starting to get the hang of the fundamentals, and it’s helping us as a team. Every day things are starting to get better and smoother, and work harder.”

The freshman boys play again on December 20 when they host Reed.
