The freshman girl’s basketball played their first home game against Fernley on December 15.
The girls played an easy game and really tried to slow down and work on their plays. They cruised to a 49-19 victory.
“We did really well and are getting better at communicating with each other,” said Hailey Fernandez.
The girls have had a hard time with communication on the court, but as the season continues they have improved each and every game. They still plan to improve throughout the season.
“I think we need to improve on shooting more especially when the shot is wide open. I think it is important to run through the plays but if the shot is there, take it,” said Brooke Hansen. “I also think we need to improve on boxing out, lots of shots go up and lots of shots come back down. We need to be strong and get the rebound so that way we can put it back up for some points or get the ball and take it down the court.”
The girls are always practicing hard to improve on these things in practice. They also condition, run plays, and shoot a lot.
Freshman girls play again on Saturday, January 9 at home against Sparks.
