The girls’ varsity golf team continued their dominance in the north this year despite losing four seniors last year.

The young team consists of three juniors and two freshmen.

Junior Tatyana Carlson led the way with a 5th-place finish at the state tournament in Pahrump. She has enjoyed playing with her team this year and was surprised by how well they did.

“This year, we made milestones, improvements, and great friendships on our team. Honestly, I’m glad to say we even made it to state with some beginners, but they proved themselves to show that they knew what they were doing,” said Carlson. “This season was one of the funnest seasons I have had. I can’t wait to see how we do next year.”

Coach Todd Milton was pleased with his team’s performance this year.

“I am absolutely excited about how the season went. It was better than I had ever anticipated,” said Milton. “The girls made it state, which I wasn’t expecting going into the season, and I am excited for next year because we will have three seniors on the team.”

As a team, the girls placed fifth at the state tournament with a score of 819. They also placed 3rd in All-State academics.
