On Friday, September 22, the JV girls’ soccer team traveled to Sage Ridge School in Reno, where they won 3-0.
The conditions of the field weren’t exactly what the girls were used to.
“The game was slightly challenging because the field was undersized, but the girls figured it out and took the win,” said coach Joelle Cooper.
Co-Captain Kelcey Cooper scored twice against Sage Ridge on a breakaway and on a ball misplayed by the opposing team’s goalkeeper. The other goal was scored by Macy Delong with a beautiful shot to the upper corner.
Lowry did not give Sage Ridge much opportunity to score.
“Our defense really meshed well and only allowed five shots to be taken on our goal,” said Joelle Cooper.
For her impressive defensive skills, Abbie Pettis was named the player of the game.
Joelle Cooper explained that “she [Pettis] had many steals and was instrumental in starting our attack.”
The coach also commented on how great a game outside midfielder Elyzah Leon played.
“Overall, the girls played as a team and moved the ball well,” said coach Cooper.
